About

Help-Portrait is a movement of photographers who are using their time, equipment and expertise to give back to those who are less fortunate. The goal is simple; find someone in need, take their portrait, print their portrait and deliver them. Started by photographer Jeremy Cowart, this movement has spread around the world; reaching 58 countries at over 600 locations with more than 7000 photographers involved.

Help-Portrait Vancouver is a Vancouver event within the worldwide movement. We hold our event in the Down Town East Side every holiday season; welcoming and serving the people who walk though our doors. None of the photographers or volunteers involved are paid or make money from these photographs. None of the pictures taken will be used in personal or commercial websites, or portfolios. In fact, the images taking of our subjects are discarded the day of the event. We have been blessed to partner with organizations like the Union Gospel Mission, Salvation Army and the Nehemiah Arts Foundation; as well as businesses like Beau Photo, Epson and Canon.

2009 was the inaugural year for Help-Portrait. Help-Portrait Vancouver was a huge success. With the help of our partners and a great team of almost 50 photographers, makeup artists, hair stylists and volunteers, we welcomed over 400 people through our doors; taking over 175 portraits of families, friends and individuals.

Our goal is to give as many portraits as we can. If you would like to be involved or would like to partner with us please email:
